Understanding trauma and its effects on the developing brain is important for caregivers of young children who play a critical role in nurturing and preparing children for school success and supporting families. Participants will learn about the latest in trauma informed care philosophy and practices including:
- The 7 essential ingredients of Trauma Informed Care
- Scientific information about addressing the impact of adversity and stress in childhood
- Practical tips to prevent or mitigate the impact of “toxic stress” in children
- The impact of childhood adversity and ways to create an early care/educational setting to meet children and families’ needs.
The workshop is presented as part of Racine County UW-Extension’s Early Learning Series and funded by Racine County Human Services Department.
