Green Works

A Horticulture Job Training Program for Adults with Disabilities

Text Box: Green Works Learn-Grow-Work Learn – Grow – Work

Green Works is a vocational horticulture program whose purpose is to educate, train, and assist in integrated employment support for adults with disabilities.

Green Works is a collaboration among Racine County UW-Extension, the Racine Kenosha Master Gardener Volunteers, local green industries, and community agencies working with adults with disabilities.

Master Gardener Volunteers are trained as job coaches and assist the program participants in completing volunteer work in the community, and ultimately in their first few weeks of employment.

Job opportunities being developed for Green Works graduates include watering and grooming of seasonal plants at local retail operations, planting outdoor flower beds and containers, summer maintenance of those beds and containers, and care of interior plants.
