FAMILY LIVING PROGRAMS IN RACINE COUNTY
UW-Extension helps build strong families, which serve as the foundation for community
life, by enhancing family relationships, parenting, child development, nutrition, financial literacy,
and the community institutions that promote family well-being.
Families and Communities
- Touchpoints Project -
Workshops for families and professionals to learn about emotional
and behavioral development of young children, effective communication
tools and community resources. The Touchpoints Project is supported by United Way of Racine County in partnership with a variety of local partners.
- Apple Seeds - A family-school-community network resulting from a combination of community expertise, systems planning
and the research-base on the 14 foundational experiences needed by all young children during early childhood for later school success. The pilot project focuses on the Burlington area, where a group of community volunteers and organizations designed Apple Seeds in support of families and young children.

- Weight
and Health - overview describes the impact of obesity, risk
factors, and related costs.
Family Economics
Accessing Affordable Housing (8 pages) - learn how Racine
County compares to other counties for home ownership and rent
burden, and awareness of need and ways to help.
Household Food Survey (2 pages) - 2004 survey of 740 families
in the Burlington Area School District elementary schools looking
at availability of food, eating habits, and policy recommendations.
