The annual Stateline Equine Education Program will be held on Saturday, March 4th, 2017 at the Kenosha County Center in Bristol. Registration will begin at 9:30 and the program will end at 3:00.
This year’s program will focus on geriatric/older horses and their special needs. Specific presentations will address overall care considerations for the geriatric horse, making end of life decisions, Cushing’s disease, laminitis/lameness challenges, exercise, and teeth/nutrition for the older horse. Guest speakers will include three distinguished veterinarians: Dr. Robert Stenbom, Associate Director of Equine Professional Services with Boehringer-Ingelheim Vetmedica in Minnesota; Dr. Kevin Nelson, co-owner and large animal veterinarian at Bristol Veterinary Service; and Dr. Ayla Guild, large animal veterinarian with special interest in geriatric medicine at Elkhorn Veterinary Clinic.
Registration for the program is available at www.kenosha.extension.wisc.edu. The cost for adults is $25 per person or $40 for two adults. Youth are also encouraged to attend at the discounted rate of $15. The Stateline Equine Education Program is hosted by State Equine Extension Specialist Liv Sandberg, Kenosha and Racine County UW-Extension Agriculture Educator Leigh Presley and Winnebago County Agriculture Agent Darrell McCauley.
