Project Goals

This 4-H project is for you if you want to learn how to select, care for and train a dog or other small animal for personal or family enjoyment. The 4-H dog care program will help you learn about health care, nutrition, training and getting ready to show a dog.

Dog Training Schedule
Dog training begins in March, weather permitting. Each member must attend at least 10 training sessions. Training will take place at the Racine County Fairgrounds in one of the parking lots. Please dress yourself, and your dog, if necessary, appropriately. If the weather is really bad, training will be cancelled. Check your email for cancellation notices the morning of practice. Beginning in May, training will be held inside one of the buildings, on both Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. Advanced, off leash, members train at 9:00am on Saturdays and 6:00pm on Wednesdays and beginners train at 9:30am on Saturday and 6:30pm on Wednesdays.

 

PROJECT FEES
Program Fees are Due March 1st along with the application form, ID forms, and Certificate of vaccination. Fees & Forms must be returned to the Co. UWEX office in Burlington. Vaccines must be kept current throughout the year. No exceptions will be allowed.
Fees have been established to cover cost involved for the equipment, Fun Show, and awards. Additional donations are also accepted. Several fund raisers are held to keep costs at a minimum.
$10.00 for current members
$20.00 fee for new members (includes cost of required t-shirt)

• AKC Canine Good Citizenship program Fee $5.00 Pay at dog show
• Therapy Dog International program Fee $6.00 Pay at dog show
